Lessons from the brands redefining retails in the omnichannel era.
Download the reportOur Web Development team are an inventive bunch. Within our rounded fulfilment offering- incorporating supply chain management and eCommerce platform integration with the processing, packing and dispatching of our client’s orders- we also offer the in-house design and development of our client’s eCommerce sites. A fine balance of creative design with the more technical elements of coding, our web designers work towards a combined end goal of making aesthetically compelling yet fully functional, user-friendly sites. In the penultimate instalment of our ‘Introducing…’ blogs, we break down the exact process that our web designers go through to reach this result.
Once our clients have been onboarded through our consultants, our Web Development team hold an initial meeting in order to get a design draft nailed. Taking a collaborative approach, our website designers listen to our client’s every want and need. Conceptualising the site’s structure, page lay outs and online features, combined with a branded logo, colours and graphics, our team then go away and produce the first of many design drafts. At fulfilmentcrowd, our unique software also functions as a shared platform for both our clients and our web developers to access, examine and communicate through. Adding each design plan within our system, each client has a private log-in, so they can view within real-time and leave direct feedback. Our web designers work on the design plan through as many rounds of tweaks as it takes, providing our clients with either exactly what they originally envisaged, or a new and improved version of their desired eCommerce site.
After getting the design successfully signed off our web team progress to the build and development phase of their project. Using our back-office development software, our web developers work in close unison with our dedicated website tester. Undergoing a series of assessments, identifying possible bugs and logging issues, our internal tester feeds back to the rest of the web team with a last sequence of technical matters until everything works like a well-oiled machine.
If developing a website for a new client, our team often touch shoulders with our fulfilmentcrowd consultants. In the build and development phase, our team require all sorts of information about our client’s eCommerce businesses, for example full product details in order to upload their inventory up on the site. If working for an existing client, our web developers work alongside a designated member our Customer Development Team (CDT) that know this client best.
We spoke to Amy, head of website management, to find out exactly why she loves being a web designer. She replied that she loves solving problems, so fixing bugs or technical issues within the build process is the most rewarding part of her job. Amy also let us know how happy she is when seeing a site finally go live and the satisfaction that this additional fulfilment service brings to our clients.
